Description: Our objective was to automate the irrigation of a greenhouse bi-level prototype. The irrigation system consisted of a weighing station and an electric pump which were linked to the automatic control unit of the apparatus. The irrigation system was tested with tomato transplants. Under capillarity action, water added to each plate was absorbed by the soil of each pot. Irrigation solution was delivered according to the weight loss of each plate and the growing rate of transplants. Results obtained show an uniform growth rate of the produced transplants during the controlled irrigation period (1 month).
