Description: The number of cracked eggs received by grading stations has doubled in the past fifteen years. A current estimate of the annual loss to Canadian egg producers is four million dollars (10). The growing problem of cracked eggs is aggravated by the trend toward higher egg production per hen and more extensive use of egg-handling equipment. The successful design of egghandling equipment requires reliable data on physical and mechanical properties of eggs. Rehkugler (5) measured Young
