Description: Terahertz radiation, over wavelengths of 30 to 3,000 microns, has emerged as a novel technology for material testing. This terahertz radiation can be used to detect unique chemical signatures and can pass through materials that are opaque to other wavelengths. As such, terahertz radiation is ideal for food safety applications. This work describes the emission and detection of terahertz radiation in the context of food safety applications.

Keywords: Terahertz spectroscopy, food safety
