Description: A new model, SWAT-DRAIN, is being developed by integrating the Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) and DRAINMOD models, to simulate surface and subsurface flows in a tile-drained watershed in eastern Canada. The goals of this study were to: (1) Modify SWAT to enable it to perform multiple scenario simulations to determine cost effective water management systems at the watershed scale. (2) Evaluate the new model using measured tile drainage and water table depth data in a watershed in Ontario. The new model is being evaluated for a watershed located in Southern Ontario. Simulations are carried out from 1991 to 1994, data from1991 to 1992 are used for model calibration and data from 1993 to 1994 are used for validation.
