Description: This paper presents the results of a research programme that investigated the flexural and axial behaviour of glue-laminated metal truss plate connected dimensional lumber posts for use in post-frame buildings. A total of 299 specimens fabricated from 3-ply and 4-ply nominal 2x6 and 2x8 SPF No.1/2 dimensional lumber were tested. The 5th percentile value was determined and compared with CSA O86 Wood Design Standard. Two splice configurations were evaluated for the 4-ply posts. Results of the test programme indicate that the spliced posts compare favourably with design values as determined using CSAO86.

Keywords: post-frame buildings, metal truss plates, built-up compression members
