Description: Rocks and stones found in wild blueberry fields can cause considerable damage to ?the harvesting head mechanisms resulting in high maintenance costs and loss of ?operational time. This paper introduces a rock sensing system primarily for wild ?blueberry harvesters by applying ultra-wideband (UWB) radar technology. This ?method provides non-contact detection of rocks under 50 cm of vegetation depth. ?Lab experiments used to develop, test, and improve the data acquisition and ?detection algorithm. The test results showed the potential of applying such ?technology on working harvesters.?
