Description: Skin and peel are the main constituents of fruit and vegetable wastes (FVW) representing between 15 and 50%. Thus, the content of agrochemicals in these wastages should be monitored before or during further processing targeting the separation or concentration of bioactive compounds. It is important to point out that health problems due to pesticide intake are related to toxicity level but also to their concentration and exposure time. Peel and pulp of fresh potato samples were separated by peeling. Each part was prepared as an analytical sample for determination of pesticide residues by chopping into small pieces and blending, followed by spiking with commercial Azoxystrobin, Propiconazole and Captan fungicides at known concentrations. Then, homogenized spiked and not spiked samples were extracted and clean-up based on QuEChERS (quick easy cheap effective rugged and safe) method. Extracted samples were injected in a gas chromatograph (HP 6890 series) equipped with flame ionization detector (FID), calibrated beforehand with fungicide standards. GC-FID method was precise to determine Azoxystrobin, Propiconazole and Captan analytical standards. However, the QuEChERS extraction method should be improved in order to be able identify and quantify the commercial fungicides when spiked into fruit and vegetable matrices.
