Description: The resilience of global food systems relies on the ability of analytical frameworks to envisage considerable future occurrences and to provide insight for stakeholders to take necessary pre-emptive actions and to make strategic decisions towards potential shocks and sustainability. While many frameworks for evaluating food systems (FS) objectives exist, the challenge of making scenario-specific choices is daunting and often focuses on current food systems. In this study, the authors assess 19 food system frameworks (FSF) using Fuzzy-TOPSIS decision model; construct five future FS outlooks; and develop a decision support framework, that takes into account the contextual data of a system and allows stakeholders to select optimal framework to assess current and future FS objectives. The proposed decision support framework can offer guidance to the national and international policy community to anticipate emerging crisis and translating them into adequate practical policies and actions to build a sustainable food system. The application of the proposed SFSO-DSF has been demonstrated with a case study.
