Mechanization of corn production has greatly enhanced the economic importance of the crop, but not without some associated problems. For instance, combine harvesting of corn frequently results in an appreciable amount of kernel loss and damage, particularly when the crop is harvested at relatively high moisture con tents due to weather constraints.
