Description: Interest is increasing in cleaning piggery floors by means of high pressure water jets. For most successful operation of this system, bedding should be eliminated. The question then arises as to the most suitable flooring material. With this overall problem in mind, research was undertaken at the University of Alberta to determine the nature of the heat transfer taking place from pigs lying on unheated floors into and through the flooring material.

Keywords: transient heat flow in piggery floors
