Description: Soil is the core of studying the mechanism of soil-tool interaction. Establishing a soil model that matches the actual situation is primitive in the study of soil tillage. In this study, a paddy field soil model was constructed based on the CFD-DEM coupling method. In the model, spherical particles with Johnson-Kendall-Roberts (JKR) surface energy between the particles were used to simulate paddy soil aggregates and their viscous behaviour. The Volume of Fluid (VOF) gas-liquid two-phase flow model was used to show the characteristics of the water in the paddy field. A soil rotation test was proposed to calibrate model parameters, namely JKR surface energy. The relative average error between the simulation and the test after calibration was 1.27%. Ditching experiments were carried out to verify the feasibility of the paddy field soil coupling model and the accuracy of the calibration method. The model was verified using the measured soil disturbance characteristics and the resistance of the opener. The relative error between the simulated and tested soil disturbance characteristics was less than 10%, The relative average error of the resistance of the simulation and test openers was less than 15%. The construction of this model can provide a good research basis for the subsequent study of soil-tool interaction.
