Description: The air quality parameters generally considered to be of primary concern in confinement housing are carbon dioxide (C02), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), ammonia (NH3) and aerosolized particulates or dust. With respect to poultry layer facilities, NH3 is recognized as the most prominent contaminant (Reece et al. 1981), while C02 and H2S would not appear, in normal circumstances, to reach concentrations that would be likely to create problems (McQuitty and Feddes 1982).
