Description: Field experiments demonstrated that subsurface drainage increased crop yield on low, flat alluvial soil in the Lower Fraser Valley. Subsurface drainage not only increased crop yield it also advanced soil trafficability and workability. Successful subirrigation can be practiced through a subsurface drainage system but no significant increase in yield was observed in 1983, 1984 and 1985 field trials.

Keywords: effects of subsurface drainage and subirrigation of the yields of four crops
