Description: A prototype of a two level greenhouse growing system has been developped at Universite Laval. Plants on the top level get sunlight, while lamps illuminate the lower level. A simulation program is used to evaluate different strategies for the frequency and the amplitude of system rotations. These rotations aim at evening out the solar and artificial radiations received by each plant. The results indicate that a corrected half-rotation at 12:00 h and an exact half-rotation at 24:00 h, lead to the best uniformity of both sources of radiation and provide each plant with the required lighting period.
